Digital Cameras are one of the most confusing items available . Confusing because of the amazing lack of knowlage that the customer has of this modern photographic wonder . This confusion is giving many shops the chance to make some seriously huge amounts of money by selling Cameras that the customer thinks are good for various reasons - mostly because the shop assistant or web site is telling the customer the camera is so good even though it is highly probable that the sales assistant himself has tried out very few Digital Cameras .The shop assistant will tell the customer that the camera he is looking at is brilliant because it has a well known name on it & has a huge amount of pixels ... the customer will then buy the camera & could be making a huge mistake .

The truth is that the name on the camera is now not a reason to buy it . Big name / famous manufacturers that have been around for many years like Olympus , Canon , Pentax , Rollei , Jenoptik , Ricoh , Nikon , Sony , etc all make some fabulous cameras ... but they also make some very bad ones . The amount of pixels the camera has can make a difference if you are going to heavily crop in on your picture when you have it on your Computer but if you just want to take quality pictures then a 8 million pixels camera with a good lens will give you great quality pictures at up to 16x11 size - we know this because we try out all the cameras we sell along with many others & then print out pictures using ordinary Epson printers to see if the camera is good or bad . Our Staff do not get paid commision so they will not sell you a camera because its good for them - they will sell it to you because its good for you . MAIN POINTS TO REMEMBER BEFORE BUYING A DIGITAL CAMERA

• Forget the make of the Camera - many Cameras are produced for the make whos name is on the Camera .
• The amount of pixels the camera has only matters if you are going to enlarge the picture to above 10x8 inch size . For a 14x11 inch size you would be best going for a 6 million pixel plus camera .
• The quality of the lens is by far the most important thing where picture quality is concerned - ask us if you want to know if a camera has a good lens or not - the ones we recomend all have good lenses & many other also have good lenses - some do not & that includes those with famous names on them .
• Most Cameras have a 3x optical zoom . Those with larger zooms are much larger in physical size & are not as easy to use . A 3x optical zoom is fine for general home / holiday use .
• Do you need a larger screen ? . The 2.5 inch screens are much larger when you see them that a 2 inch screen . All screens can now be used to take pictures & view your pictures even when you are in sunlight which is why most modern compact cameras do not need optical viewfinders .
• Most Cameras now come with interanl memory for image storage . This is fine for day to day home use but if you are going on holiday or you intend to let us print your pictures for you then you will need a Memory Card . The amount of pictures you can take with each Card depends on the Camera you buy but as a very rough guide have a look at our mini chart below - decide on a camera then look at the chart - look along the line that shows the amount of pixels the camera you have decided on has - then look for the amount of pictures you can take on each card .
