Rollei are one of the old firm of tradition camera makers who old school photographers will know well . They are a German company who have been making cameras & lenses since the early 1930s . For the most part they used to be known more in the pro or semi pro market for producing superb quality medium format cameras . In the late 1960s they did enter the amateur market with a range of high quality 35mm cameras but still concentrating more on the pro market .

Around 3 years ago Rollei entered the digital camera market but the first attemts did not prove popular in the mass market because Rollei kept to tradition by offering a small range of high quality cameras but cameras that were not eactly great looking & not so user friendly as those of competitors .

In 2007 Rollei introduced a new range of cameras that now includes 6 top quality models . Unlike previous Rollie models the new range looks fabulous but retains the high build & lens quality that is a Rollei tradition . They have not been stupid in prices - where other manufacturers that have a tradition for high quality are charging stupidly high prices for top end cameras Rollei offer a range that is low in price yet still retaining the quality that you would expect from from such a well renouned company .
